Excellent game but recent updates are ruining it.

I have been playing the game daily for over 7 months and am near the level cap. I would have given this game an easy 5* rating any day of the week until recently. A big update pushed out devalued the premium currency (gems) and made it exceedingly hard to "star up" your heroes (gaining stars increases all stats a significant amount). Previously, once a hero hit 6 stars, they would not appear in the lottery-style portal, making it easier to get the heroes you still had unfinished. The new update put ALL the heroes back in. So now I can spend thousands of gems and not even get a single token for the heroes I *really* need them for. Its beyond frustrating and it punishes new players who might not be as far as I and other veterans are. Insane grind ahead.
I simply cannot recommend this game until they fix the portal. I still find enjoyment but its mainly the guild Im in.

TL;DR: devs are making it an unfulfilling, depressing grind to max out your characters. Not a recommended install.
